For the purposes of research, scientists used electron microscopes to study the internal structure of the legs of dogs. They found the heat transferred from the artery in the venous network, which means that the cold blood can not return to the body. Specifically, when the blood on the soles of dogs freezes due to low air temperature and soil pumped warm blood from the heart (through neighboring artery), which transfers its heat. Thus, the blood "heated" before returning to the body , which helps dogs maintain their body temperature stable. A similar system has been detected in the limbs of many other animals, such as the beak of the penguin and dolphin fins. Animals that can regulate and maintain constant body temperature despite the cold, are also of arctic foxes and wolves. Previous studies have shown that dogs can keep warm the tissue in their feet, even at temperatures that reach the -35 degrees Celsius.
